As a host on Stayswitch’s platform, you play a critical role in providing safe, enjoyable, and compliant experiences for guests. This Host Responsibility page outlines your obligations to ensure compliance with our policies, local laws, and industry standards. By listing your property, restaurant, workspace, studio, bar, event space, vehicle, boat, or other offering on Stayswitch, you agree to adhere to these responsibilities. 1. Compliance with Stayswitch Policies
All hosts must comply with Stayswitch’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy, and Information Security Policy. This includes:
- Adhering to the Acceptable Use Policy, which prohibits illegal activities, harmful conduct, and the listing of prohibited items or services (e.g., illegal goods, unlicensed activities, or items promoting hate or violence).
- Protecting guest data in accordance with our Information Security Policy and the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023.
- Respecting our use of cookies to enhance user experience, as outlined in our Cookies Policy.
2. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
Hosts are responsible for ensuring their listings and operations comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws, including but not limited to:
- Zoning, licensing, and permit requirements for rentals or services in your jurisdiction.
- Tax obligations, including reporting income from bookings to relevant authorities.
- Safety regulations, such as fire safety, health codes, and accessibility standards.
- Economic and trade sanctions, as outlined in our Terms of Service, including avoiding transactions with individuals or entities on prohibited lists (e.g., those sanctioned by the Nigerian government, US OFAC, or the United Nations).
You must verify that your offerings do not violate any laws, such as the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended) or intellectual property regulations in Nigeria.
3. Providing Accurate Listings
Hosts must provide accurate, up-to-date, and transparent information about their listings to avoid misleading guests. This includes:
- Accurate descriptions of the property or service, including amenities, availability, and condition.
- Clear pricing, including any additional fees (e.g., cleaning or service fees).
- High-quality photos that accurately represent the offering.
- Prompt updates to availability calendars to prevent double bookings.
Misrepresentation or deceptive practices may result in listing removal or account suspension, as outlined in our Terms of Service.
4. Ensuring Guest Safety
Hosts are responsible for maintaining a safe environment for guests, including:
- Ensuring properties and services meet safety standards (e.g., working smoke detectors, secure premises, and sanitary conditions).
- Providing clear instructions for safe use of the property or service (e.g., operating instructions for vehicles or boats).
- Disclosing any potential hazards or risks associated with the listing.
- Responding promptly to guest concerns about safety or maintenance issues.
5. Guest Communication and Support
Hosts must maintain professional and timely communication with guests, including:
- Responding to inquiries and booking requests within 24 hours.
- Providing clear check-in/check-out instructions and contact information.
- Addressing guest issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Ensuring guests have access to emergency contact information during their stay or experience.
6. Respecting Guest Privacy
Hosts must respect guest privacy and comply with data protection laws, including:
- Not sharing guest personal information except as necessary to facilitate bookings or comply with legal requirements.
- Ensuring secure handling of any guest data received through Stayswitch, in line with our Privacy Policy.
- Obtaining guest consent before installing surveillance devices (e.g., security cameras) and clearly disclosing their presence in the listing description.
7. Non-Discrimination
Stayswitch is committed to fostering an inclusive community. Hosts must not discriminate against guests based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Discrimination violates our Terms of Service and may result in account termination.
8. Maintaining Quality Standards
To ensure a positive guest experience, hosts must:
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and upkeep for their offerings.
- Provide amenities and services as advertised in the listing.
- Regularly review and respond to guest feedback to improve their offerings.
9. Consequences of Non-Compliance
Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in actions outlined in our Terms of Service, including:
- Issuing warnings or restrictions on your host account.
- Suspending or removing listings from the platform.
- Terminating your host account or business relationship with Stayswitch.
- Reporting violations to law enforcement or regulatory authorities, if applicable.
- Seeking reimbursement for costs, fines, or penalties incurred due to your actions.
